It teaches about causes of fire, different types of extinguishers and their use in a range of fire emergency situations. Course candidates will be able to learn how to choose the correct type of extinguisher for a particular type of fire and operate this extinguisher in a safe and effective way.

This online fire extinguisher training course contains three interactive modules and includes a brief assessment at the end of each module. These include:
Module 1: Fire Extinguishers
Introduction to Fire Extinguisher Use – fire safety in the workplace; brief introduction to how fires spread; brief introduction fire hazards and danger of using a wrong fire extinguisher at work; types of fire extinguishers may be available in the workplace.
Types of Extinguishers- different types of extinguishers and their use in a range of fire situations; fire blanket.
Conclusion- summary of the module.
Module 2: Pre-Engagement Action
Introduction to Pre-Engagement Actions- how to safely tackle a fire; actions to take before tackling a fire; at what stage it is safe to tackle a fire; the importance of assessing causes, fuel, and surrounding hazards; assessment of a fire.

Module 3: Using a Fire Extinguisher (includes rated interactive simulations)
Using a Water Fire Extinguisher- step-by-step guide how to operate a water fire extinguisher.
Using a Foam Extinguisher- step-by-step guide how to operate a foam extinguisher.
Using a CO2 Extinguisher- step-by-step guide how to operate a CO2 extinguisher.
Using a Dry Powder Extinguisher- step-by-step guide how to operate a dry powder extinguisher.
Using a Wet Chemical Extinguisher- step-by-step guide how to operate a wet chemical extinguisher.
Using a Fire Blanket- step-by-step guide: how to use a fire blanket.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This short course is aimed at all employees, who are responsible for preventing fires within the workplace, such as Fire Marshals, supervisors, business owners or senior managers.
Upon completion of this course learners will be able to:
Understand different causes of fire
Understand different types of extinguishers that must be used in a variety of fire situations
Understand the process when and how one can tackle a fire
Learn how to operate different types of extinguishers in a variety of fire situations
The online assessment is carried out on completion of each module. The pass mark for this course is 70% for the first two modules, and 100% for the third module. You will be given the chance to review all your answers at the end of each module before final submission. If you don’t pass, don’t worry! You can re-take each test up to 6 times with no extra charge.
